10 Colour Pens

If you're of a certain age, or have a love of pens and stationery, you've probably seen these before.
When I was a kid, many many years ago, they were all the rage.  Everywhere.  Everyone had one.  I've probably had one or six over the years.

And my everyday use pen is a 4 colour version by Bic.

But this year I ended up with a bunch of them.  Firstly a set of 3 from Temu that claimed to have 28 colours.

And a cute set of two from my in-laws.

The first step with any art supply, is swatching.  A lot of people hate swatching - I love it.

There's a nice range of colours.  I was surprised that the set of 28 actually seemed to have a bunch of different colours.  I kinda assumed there'd be duplicates.

Two of the colours were a bit dead to start with, but worked once I scribbled a bit.

A particular highlight was the ball on top, which rotated and made for awesome fidgeting.

The pens from my in-laws were also good - although the colours didn't seem to have any sort of order to them.  The toppers are cute, but it made it harder to press and change colours.

So on to the art.  I start off as always, but drawing and colouring a monster.

They're biros so you don't exactly get perfect coverage without a lot of time and effort.  I did a little swatch with layering the pens, but didn't use it on any pieces.

I also did a Zentangle piece - complete with dodgy line art.

But what I'll probably use these pens for most, is sketching.  I like to sketch out monsters.

Overall, they're a cute set of pens.  Definitely sitting in my massive supply of pens, with full intention to use again at some point.
